Trinity School Lahore had the privilege of hosting three distinguished guests from the global chess community: Mr. Hanif Qureshi, President of the Chess Federation of Pakistan; Ms. Rita Atkins, Secretary of the Chess in Education Commission at FIDE; and Ms. Anzel Laubscher, Senior Lead Instructor at the Chess in Education Commission, FIDE. This visit underscored Trinity’s commitment to fostering holistic development through innovative educational practices.
During their visit, the guests engaged with Trinity’s faculty and leadership, sharing valuable insights into the integration of chess as an educational subject. They highlighted how chess enhances critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills among students.
The delegation was particularly impressed by Skills Friday, Trinity’s signature initiative that dedicates a day to skill-based learning. They attended a live chess lesson and observed firsthand how Trinity students are developing strategic thinking and resilience through this timeless game. The discussion also delved into designing a curriculum tailored to embed chess in everyday learning. The visitors commended Trinity’s forward-thinking approach and expressed enthusiasm for potential collaborations to make chess an integral part of early education.
