Trinity School Performs At the MAAS International Theatre Festival

Trinity School Performs At the MAAS International Theatre Festival

The Dramatics Society of Trinity School Lahore recently participated in the Punjab International Theatre Festival held at Alhamra Arts Council, delivering a prodigious performance that featured reflection, memory, and connection.

Under the direction of Ms. Marwa Lamine Manai from Tunisia, and in collaboration with MAAS Foundation, Trinity School’s dynamic young performers journeyed through the realm of reflection—not just as an artistic exercise, but as the means to understand people in relation to orientations in space and time.

This artistic movement transversed through a three-day workshop that eventually culminated into an improvised theatrical play.

On day one of the workshop learners delved into various group activities, movement exercises, and improvisation techniques.

Something that just began with theatre basics turned into a dialogue on day two, when an open conversation about Lahore’s recent political instability became the foundation of the performance piece, inspiring learners to express their feelings and memories through writing letters to their city and reflecting on how early school closure impacted their workshop.

As the third and the final day of this movement approached, learners showcased their styles of creative expressionism, emotive communication and critical thinking to create, plan, and perform on the same day.

Despite the limited time for them to prepare, the result of their performance turned out to be heartfelt, evocative, and thoughtfully reflective.

In essence, this experience was not only a creative triumph but also a profound moment of introspection for the learners. It allowed them to reconnect—amongst themselves, the world and with the idea based on how art can be a mirror to collective memory and emotion.

The Dramatics Society’s participation in the festival exemplified Trinity’s ethos and core values by transforming reflection into performance and emotion into art.
