Trinity Students Push for Change with Menstrual Hygiene Campaign

Trinity School Lahore organized an impactful session on Period Poverty in Pakistan on October 16, 2024, to raise awareness about the growing issue of menstrual health and the lack of female hygiene products. The event was led by Trinity’s students, with the main organizers including Rania Imran and Maryam Hassan.

The session aimed to highlight the economic and social barriers women and girls face in accessing sanitary products, especially in underprivileged communities. Dr. Sarwat Ahsan, a renowned gynecologist, was invited as the guest speaker to shed light on the medical implications of period poverty, emphasizing the importance of accessible healthcare and education. Her input provided valuable insights into how the lack of sanitary products affects women’s health, education, and overall well-being.

Following the session, efforts will be expanded by campaigning for the reduction of taxes on sanitary products, providing free sanitary items in schools, and collaborating with NGOs to reach underprivileged schools. The initiative aims to create long-term change and ensure that menstrual health is recognized as a basic right for all.
